Foundation Earth has proudly won the 2022 The Grocer’s Gold Awards for “Sustainability initiative of the year”. The award aims to compare and contrast a number of sustainability initiatives that suppliers are engaged in to lower their environmental footprint and meet sustainability targets.
The event, which took place on 14 June 2022 at the Guildhall in London, celebrated the extraordinary achievements of companies and individuals during another challenging year for the sector. Over 100 entries were evaluated by a panel of expert judges handpicked by The Grocer representing retail, press, research, tech and non-profit.
Other finalists of the “Sustainability initiative of the year” award for suppliers included Podback, Wild Cosmetics and Wyke Farms. A second sustainability award for retailers was won by Waitrose’s “Sheep to Sleep” initiative.
Commenting on the award, Cliona Howie, CEO of Foundation Earth said:
“We are very excited that our eco-labels have been recognised in such a prestigious award. Food labelling is a powerful tool to provide consumers with the information needed to make informed decisions, and food producers with the data required to enact change in their value chains. We hope to see them become the new normal, and being celebrated for by The Grocer is a great opportunity to spread the word.
“Congratulations to all the other finalists on their amazing work towards our common mission for increased sustainability in the agri-food sector,” said Cliona Howie, CEO of Foundation Earth.”
